What Are Implants?
Implants are artificial replacements for missing teeth that are surgically placed in the jaw bone.
Implants work by surgically inserting a titanium screw into the jawbone acting as an artificial tooth root, and then a crown is placed on top of the Implant.
Dr Tom Owen will insert the titanium implant under a local anaesthetic into the jawbone. Titanium is used as it is biocompatible meaning the body accepts it as its own. The bone fuses with the implant in a process called osseointegration which usually takes 8-12 weeks, in some cases this can take longer. A dentist then attaches an artificial tooth usually a crown which is the most common restoration , however a bridge and Implant retained denture are other possible restorations that can be used.

We will email the patient depending on each individual case.

You must be over the age of 18 to have implants.

An Implant is an excellent fixed long-term option to replace a missing tooth or several missing teeth.
